Message market fit, explained plainly.
Message market fit is the point where the right people understand why your product matters when you describe it. Product market fit asks whether they want what you built. Message market fit asks whether they get it when they read your page.
What is message market fit?
It is the point where the right people understand why your product matters when you describe it. You can have product market fit and still die quietly because nobody understands the sentence at the top of your page.
The four layers of a message
Every teardown scores the same four layers, so you can see which one is actually breaking.
- Clarity: can a reader say what the product does after one pass
- Relevance: does the page name the problem the audience actually feels
- Value: is the result concrete instead of implied
- Differentiation: could this sentence describe three other tools
Why a message decays
An angle that works this month stops working next quarter as the platform shifts and the audience moves. That is why PMF Hunter is a loop you run again, not a report you read once.
Worked teardown
The example teardown shows scores, the weakest message layer and three rewritten angles for a fictional SaaS product. Read it at /teardown/example.
